The National Youth CSOs Election Consortium Formed

On the 18th September, the National Youth CSOs Election Consortium was formed as a result of consultations between 50 youth-led and youth-serving organizations and youth networks from Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar representing National and grassroots youth organizations.  The National youth CSOs Elections Consortium is guided by the principle of inclusion by having National Youth CSOs, regional youth networks and grassroots youth organizations as part of the consortium, the Tanzania Higher Learning Institutions Students Organization (TAHLISO) is the mobilizing partner for youth and students in higher learning institutions, colleges, and universities.

The five main areas that will be given priority are Education, Health (including sexual reproductive health and rights), Economic empowerment & inclusion and youth participation in decision-making processes.

One of the key outcomes of the consortium is the development of the Tanzania Youth Manifesto 2019, which has already started by identifying key priority areas for youth in Tanzania  The Consortium  Secretariat is co-led by Tanzania Youth Vision Association (TYVA),  United Nations  Association of Tanzania (UNA), Mulika Tanzania, Youth of the United  Nations Association of Tanzania  (YUNA), African Youth and Adolescents Network (AfriYan  Tanzania) and Peace Life for People with Disability Foundation(PLPDF). The Consortium will continue collaborating closely with the National Election Commission (NEC) and Ministry responsible for youth and other stakeholders to ensure that the youth agenda is at the forefront of the coming elections.

UNA Tanzania & Nipe Fagio Join Forces for the Community

UNA Tanzania joined forces with the NGO, Nipe Fagio, for a Beach Clean-up event on 21 September 2019 which is International World Clean-Up Day.

This event was part of the events which marked the kickoff of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Action Week #Act4SDGs. World Cleanup Day is a global social action program aimed at combating the global solid waste problem, including the problem of marine debris.

The next World Clean-up Day is the 19 September 2020. World Clean-up Day is celebrated with litter clean-up and waste mapping activities spanning every time zone.

Nipe Fagio, an NGO, meaning “give me a broom” in Swahili, is a civil society organization founded with the objective to turn Dar es Salaam into a replicable example in the pursuit of sustainable development in East Africa.

UNA Tanzania launches SDGs club in collaboration with Media Space

UNA Tanzania in collaboration with Media Space Tanzania launched the SDGs Club for Journalists and Storytelling. The objective of the club is to bring journalists and storytellers in Tanzania at the forefront of telling the SDGs stories from the lens of the people. The club will provide mentorship and capacity building to both young and experienced journalists in Tanzania as well as connecting the members with SDGs related opportunities for journalists. In line with the leave no one behind theme of the SDGs, we hope to inspire journalists to start telling people stories about the SDGs.
